Malegaon Blasts: Foil Attempts To Divide People

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on September 9, 2006.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the three bomb blasts in Malegaon town in which 31 people have died and over a 100 injured. These bomb blasts at a mosque and a graveyard indicates a diabolic attempt to create communal tensions and provoke violence. Coming after the Mumbai train explosions, this attack should be viewed with utmost seriousness.

The state government and the concerned security agencies must uncover the motives behind this attack and track down those responsible. In this connection, the link with the bomb blasts in Nanded in April this year which killed two Bajrang Dal activists while making bombs and the blasts in mosques in Parbani, Purna and Jalna in recent years must also be investigated.

The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt sympathy to all those who have lost their family members in these dastardly attacks. The state government should spare no effort to see that the injured get proper medical treatment and adequate compensation is provided to the families of the victims.

The Polit Bureau calls upon all its state units to mobilise the people against the nefarious designs of the extremist and terrorist groups and to foil their attempts to divide the people on communal lines. (INN)
