CPI(M) Increases Its Position In AP Panchayat Raj Bodies

IN the two-phase elections held to panchayat raj bodies in the state, the CPI(M) has improved its position. It has secured 334 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) against 1622 seats it contested. Out of the 137 candidates put up by the Party in Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC), 27 candidates have won.  The Party has contested these elections with understanding with other political parties in some of the constituencies it has put up its candidates. Compared to the position the CPI(M) secured in the elelctions held last, its tally has increased from 294 to 334 in MPTCs and from 15 to 27 in ZPTCs.  Further details are awaited at the time of writing this report.
