V P Singh Appeals For LF Victory In Bengal

Dear Friends,

IN West Bengal, the Left Front government has existed for 29 years. It symbolises the hopes and aspirations of the working people. The Left Front governments have established the democratic rights of all sections of the people and created an atmosphere of communal amity.

Through the implementation of land reforms, providing security of tenure for the barghadars and by stimulating agricultural production and generating incomes for the rural people, West Bengal has shown that there is an alternative path to the current crisis in the agrarian economy that has gripped many parts of the country. Steadily there is an increase in the investment in industries and infrastructure and West Bengal is once again becoming one of the industrially advanced states in the country. For two decades now, West Bengal has acquired the first position in agricultural production in the country.

It is necessary that this work is carried forward and West Bengal marches further on the road to progress. This can materialise only with the Left Front being elected to office once again.

Today, when the Left is playing an important role at the centre, the victory of the Left Front in West Bengal will ensure that the struggle for strengthening democracy, secularism and alternative economic policies, at the all India level, is carried forward with much more vigour.

In my personal capacity and on behalf of the Jan Morcha, I appeal to the people of West Bengal to extend their wholehearted support to the Left Front and deliver it with an emphatic verdict enabling it to form the government for the seventh successive terms.
