SURJEET’S CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

I am deeply grieved to hear the news of the death of Comrade Anil Biswas, Member of the Polit Bureau and secretary of the West Bengal state committee of the Party.

Anil Biswas was an organiser with exceptional qualities. A Marxist theoretician, he was a stickler for principles and uncompromising on ideological issues. Recognising the need for making available unbiased news and views of the Party to the people of West Bengal he made great endeavours for the growth and expansion of the Ganashakti daily of which he was editor for fifteen years.

When we had formed the History Commission to write the history of the Party, Anil Biswas was not a member. But given his keen interest and involvement, he was co-opted as a member later on. Even the office of the Commission was also set up in Kolkata. He primed a team of young and talented researchers to assist the commission in its work.

Another outstanding quality was his simplicity and devotion. He loved and cared for his cadres whose love and respect he earned in return. A dedicated and tireless worker of the Party he enjoyed the confidence of not only the leadership, but also the entire membership of the Party in West Bengal.

Whenever I went to Kolkata or he visited Delhi he made it a point to come and meet me in my room and enquire about my health.

His untimely death has caused a grievous loss for the Party. I join the entire Party in mourning his death.

I convey my heartfelt condolences to the West Bengal unit of the Party. I also convey my condolences to his wife Geeta and his daughter Ajanta.
