Glowing Tributes Paid To Comrade Anil Biswas

Condolence meeting at AKG Bhavan

PAYING glowing tributes to Comrade Anil Biswas, top leaders of the CPI(M) called upon the Party rank and file to take inspiration from the life and work of Comrade Biswas and march ahead.

Addressing a condolence meeting organised at the Party headquarters, AKG Bhavan on March 28, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said Anil Biswas was the front-ranking leader among the second-generation leadership of the Party in the central committee and asserted that it was under his leadership that the Party unit of West Bengal was further strengthened, united and expanded. "He was a role model for all state secretaries", said Karat. Comrade Biswas's role in strengthening ideological-political training of the cadre in the Party was exceptional. His contribution as a central committee member and Polit Bureau member was significant, particularly in the context of collapse of Soviet Union. Karat recalled the stellar efforts made by Comrade Anil Biswas in updating of Party Programme and in bringing out the Party history volume.

Poli Bureau member Sitaram Yechury in his speech highlighted three important traits in Comrade Biswas. One, the ability to go into great detail of every aspect, particularly relating to organisational issues. Two, his only yardstick in judging a comrade was whether that comrade was implementing the collective decision of the Party, irrespective of his individual opinion. And three, his great ability to analyse the concrete conditions in a changing world.

Veteran leader of the Party and Poli Bureau member Harkishan Singh Surjeet spoke extolling the qualities of Comrade Anil Biswas. (INN)
