Years Since Formation
IN
the year 2006, the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) will be
completing 25 years since its formation as an all India organisation in March
1981 in Chennai.
It
is a very special year for us, said Brinda Karat speaking on this, and she underlined
the need to highlight the different dimensions of AIDWA’s work in this period,
especially the defining of women’s issues in terms of class, citizenship and
individual,(as worker, as citizen , as woman). She suggested that a very wide
range of activities could be undertaken, at central, state and unit level to
bring out our experience of struggle by profiling our leaders and symbols of
struggle. This should be combined with organisational work, and a number of
cultural activities.
