Left To Campaign On WTO Issues

 

The four Left Parties – CPI(M), CPI, RSP and All India Forward Bloc – met on November 7 at CPI headquarters, Ajoy Bhavan and issued the following statement  which was signed by S Ramachandran Pillai (CPI-M), A B Bardhan (CPI), Abani Roy (RSP) and G Devarajan of AIFB.

 

THE Left Parties decided to organise a pubic campaign on the basis of the note it submitted to the government on the WTO Ministerial Conference slated to be held in Hong Kong from December 13-18, 2005.  The Left parties will cooperate with other parties and organisations who take similar positions and will try to organise united action in the form of national convention, state level conventions, pubic campaigns in the coming weeks, including holding of rallies and demonstrations on a countrywide basis on December 13, the date on which the ministerial conference begins.

 

The WTO Virodhi Bharatiya Jan Abhiyan (Indian People’s Campaign Against WTO) has already decided to hold the National Convention on December 3. The Left parties and mass organisations will participate in the convention. (INN)
