Gets Back To Coordination Committee
The
Left parties, CPI(M), CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc met at AKG Bhavan on October 13
and issued the following statement. It was signed by CPI(M) general secretary
Prakash Karat, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, RSP secretary Abani Roy and
Forward Bloc general secretary Debabrata Biswas.
THE
Left parties considered the letter sent by Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the
United Progressive Alliance, in response to the letter of the Left parties of
June 26, 2005. Gandhi’s letter has conveyed the government’s decision not to
proceed with the disinvestment of shares in the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited
(BHEL).
The
prime minister had earlier informed that the government does not intend to sell
the shares of the BHEL and other navaratna
companies.
In
view of this development, the Left parties have decided to resume their
participation in the UPA-Left Coordination Committee.
