Ridiculously Absurd Charge

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on September 26, 2005.

THE Polit Bureau denounces the slanderous allegation against Pramode Dasgupta, one of the founding leaders of the CPI(M) in the book ‘The Mitrokhin Archive and the Secret History of the KGB’. The ridiculous charge that Pramode Dasgupta was an agent of the Indian Intelligence Bureau is nothing but an attempt to defame a leader who was the builder of the CPI(M) in West Bengal. The veracity of the anti-communist material can be judged by the absurdity of this charge

This malicious attempt has been met with outrage in democratic and progressive circles. The Polit Bureau has fully endorsed the stand taken by the West Bengal State Committee to file defamation suits against the newspaper which published this news and the publishers of the book.
