Bengal CPI(M) Leaders Threaten To Sue Indian Express Over Disinformation

BENGAL CPI(M) leaders, Anil Biswas, Biman Basu, and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee have threatened to take the Indian Express to court with a criminal suit over the scurrilous lie that the newspaper front paged, in its September 19, 2005 issue, citing by name the late Promode Dasgupta, a Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M), who also headed the Bengal unit of the Party as the secretary, and was the Bengal Left Front chairman.

Anil Biswas told INN in the afternoon of September 19 that unless the Indian Express published in full the lawyer’s notice that has been sent to its offices, the Bengal CPI(M) leaders would go ahead with legal proceedings not only against the Indian Express but also against the writer under whose by-line the article of disinformation has been run.
