Kisan & Agr Workers' Charter Of Demands
The convention of Kisan and Agricultural workers adopted the following charter of Demands and presents its before the central, state governments and people of India:
The
central government must discuss with farmers’ organisations of the country
about the issues to be taken at ministerial Conference of WTO in Hong Kong
and should come out with white paper about the government’s stand to be
taken there
Radically
change the proposed Seed Bill 2004 and bring a new pro-farmer Bill
Increase
subsidies on Fertiliser, pesticides and other inputs required for
agriculture.
Stop
move to cut food-subsidies, PDS must be transparent and further
strengthened.
Procurement
on MSP should be widened and assured. Guaranteed the remunerative prices to
the farmers. Withdraw New Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Act.
More
credit facilities through public financial institutions on reduced interest
rate be assured for rural sector.
Cooperative
institutions, particularly Primary Agricultural co-operative Societies
(PACS) be strengthened and financially helped.
Implement
Comprehensive Crop insurance Scheme for all crops and all farmers.
Financial
allocations be increased for infrastructural development like irrigation and
power and for research, technology, extension services.
National
Rural Employment Guarantee Act be Implemented properly and immediately.
Stop
reversal Land-Reforms and implement radical land-reforms throughout the
country.
Protect
the rights of ST, SC and other poorer sections. Their evictions from forests
must be stopped.
Enact
and implement the Central Legislation for Agricultural-Workers.
