NEPAL KING’S VIOLENCE DEPLORED
Surendra
Mohan and Prakash Karat have issued the following statement on September 5.
IT
is highly deplorable that King Gyanendra of Nepal has resorted to violence
against a peaceful demonstration in Kathmandu leading to large-scale arrests.
The former prime minister G P Koirala and some others were injured in the police
action.
At
a time when all democratic elements in the country have joined ranks for the
restoration of democracy, it was appropriate for the king to discuss with them
the ways of transferring power to the people of Nepal. He is also honour bound
to respect the promise made to our prime minister.
We
express solidarity with the democratic forces in Nepal who are struggling for
democracy. (INN)
