CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat inaugurated a newly formed local committee office at Jonha, a tribal area on August 6. On the same day she also inaugurated Comrade Laxshmi Kant Swasi Bhavan, and Silli-Angara-Sonahatu Zonal Committee office at Muri. She addressed the Party members and functionaries assembled on this occasion. Leading functionaries of the Party, including women, came from bordering areas of Purulia district of West Bengal to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Party building.
On August 7, Brinda Karat addressed a state level general body meeting of the Party explaining the 18th Party Congress political resolution, organisational report and the document ‘On certain policy issues’. She emphasised the need for achieving breakthrough in newer areas and called upon Party members to integrate the struggles of the economically and socially oppressed sections and advance the movement. She said for Jharkhand, the work among tribals is an important aspect as they are under serious attack. Their lands are not being spared and their rights are under attack.
A total of 370 comrades attended this meeting and among them included members of state committee, district committees, local committees and some branch secretaries. Leading functionaries of the mass organisations and some Party members also attended.
