  CPI(M) Condoles Comrade PKV’s Demise

On July 13, the CPI(M) Central Committee sent the following message to CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, condoling the demise of Comrade P K Vasudevan Nair.

Dear Comrade,

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses its profound sorrow at the death of Comrade P K Vasudevan Nair, secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India and leader of the CPI group in parliament.

Comrade PKV joined the national movement at a very young age and soon identified himself with the cause of the downtrodden. He joined the Communist Party in 1945 and very soon rose to the position of a front-ranking leader of the party in Kerala.

Comrade PKV was unpretentious in nature and was known for his flexibility and moderate approach. He was one of those leaders in Kerala who commanded universal respect and recognition.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) pays respectful homage to the memory of Comrade P K Vasudevan Nair. It conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife, two daughters and three sons and to the entire membership of the CPI.

SURJEET’S MESSAGE

Former CPI(M) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet had sent the following message to CPI general secretary A B Bardhan, condoling the demise of Comrade P K Vasudevan Nair.

I AM deeply saddened to hear of the death of Comrade P K Vasudevan Nair, a veteran of the Indian communist movement and an outstanding leader of the Communist Party of India.

I have known PKV for a long time. His unassuming nature and sober approach have always impressed me. I had in fact addressed an election meeting at Thiruvananthapuram, campaigning for him during the last Lok Sabha elections.

Please convey my condolences to his family and the entire membership of the Communist Party of India.

On July 13, CPI(M) Polit Bureau members, Harkishan Singh Surjeet and Sitaram Yechury, went to Ajoy Bhavan, the CPI headquarters, and placed on behalf of the party a wreath on Comrade PVK’s body.
