The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on June 21, 2005.
THE
Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) congratulates the people of West Bengal for again
reposing faith in the Left Front. The Left Front has wrested Kolkata Municipal
Corporation from the Trinamul Congress. The victory in Kolkata Municipal
Corporation and Salt Lake municipality shows the support of the people to the
policies and performance of the Left Front government.
Out of the 141 seats in Kolkata Municipal Corporation, the Left Front has won 75 seats. In the Salt Lake municipality, the Left Front got 18 out of the 23 seats. (INN)
