DYFI Condemns Attack On Rozgar Adhikar Yatra

IN a statement issued from New Delhi, June 6, the central executive committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) strongly condemned the heinous attack on Rozgar Adhikar Yatra in Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh by the Special Task Force (STF) on June 4 evening.

The DYFI recalled how the chain of shameful events started on June 4, with an objection by the STF jawans who threatened the yatra participants with guns. The jawans stopped them from addressing the public as well as from presenting cultural programmes. The villagers who had gathered to see the yatra and the programme were brutally beaten up by the STF jawans.

The STF jawans also damaged the bus in which the jatha team travelled, and threatened the driver on gunpoint.

Expressing serious concern over the callousness of the central government, the DYFI CEC demanded that the government immediately take appropriate action against the culprits involved in this incident.

The CEC of DYFI also called upon the youth of the country to protest against the heinous attack by the STF. The DYFI further appealed  to the youth to intensify the united struggle against the devastating government policies that are squeezing employment opportunities. The burning problem of unemployment is to be addressed in possible ways and for this the unity of the Indian youth is important, the DYFI has noted. (INN)
