CPI(M) veteran leader and former general secretary, Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet has undergone surgery for a kidney problem at a private hospital in Delhi. He was operated upon on May 9. The doctors attending on him have said the surgery went off satisfactorily and he will be required to remain in hospital for a week.
Party general secretary Prakash Karat and Polit Bureau member S Ramchandran Pillai went to the hospital after the surgery and met the doctors concerned.
