The Communist Party Of Nepal (UML)

Dear Comrades, I, on behalf of the central committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and on my own, would like to extend our cordial felicitation to you and to the leaders and delegates through you on the auspicious occasion of the 18th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The congress is taking place in such an important time while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is playing its significant role at the centre firmly upholding several democratic agendas. We believe that the deliberations and conclusions of the congress will further contribute in achieving more successes in future. We wish the congress a grand success.

Our commitments and goals towards democracy, human rights, equality, social justice, socialism, peace and prosperity of common masses always bring us to close cooperation and solidarity. We share common understanding and concern to the exploitation and plunder of working class and broad masses of the people by the exploiting class. Similarly, we oppose the exploitation and domination on the weaker nations and people by the imperialists, multinationals and their mentors in pretext of globalisation and liberalisation.

In Nepal, we are confronted with the serious challenges posed by the autocratic rule of the King. The country, which was agonised by the decade-long "Maoist" violence, has been now under the state of emergency imposed by the King after the unconstitutional and undemocratic royal proclamation of February 1. Comrade Madhav Kumar Nepal, and other leaders of different political parties, are under house arrest and some of them are in police custodies. Fundamental rights of the people are curbed and various types of restrictions are imposed on the parties and the people. We have strongly condemned the royal take over.

At present, our party as the true representative of the working class and the people of Nepal is trying its best to arise, organise and mobilise all the classes and sections of the people against the absolute monarchy and for the nationwide joint mass movement, for the restoration of democracy and human rights in the country. The political workers of various parties and the people are gradually coming out against the royal proclamation joining in the protest demonstrations all over the country. We are confident that the autocracy will be defeated and the people’s sovereignty will be established.

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to you and to your party for extending profound support and solidarity to the democratic movement of the Nepali people. We believe that your support will continue in the days to come.

I am certain that the cordial fraternal relations existed between our two parties will further flourish in the days ahead.

Long live the fraternal relations of our two parties!

Long live the international solidarity among the democratic and progressive forces of the world!!

With fraternal greetings,

J N Khanal
