The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on April 18, 2004.
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep grief at the sudden demise of Comrade T K Balan, member of the Kerala State Committee and a member of the Central Control Commission of the Party. T K Balan had attended the 18th Congress of the Party in New Delhi held last week. Therefore, his sudden death has come as a shock to all. In his death, the Party has lost a valuable comrade.
T K Balan was a comrade who served the Party in various capacities. Whatever work he took up, he did so with dedication and distinction.
T K Balan was a member of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly. Earlier, he had served as the president of the Kannur District Council. He had been an important leader of the NGO union.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife and three children.
