UPCOMING polls to the municipalities and corporations all over Bengal will be held over two phases. On May 22, the Chandernagore municipal corporation as well as two notified area authorities and 76 municipalities will go to the polls.
On
June 19, elections would be held to the Kolkata municipal corporation and two
municipalities including the Bidhannagar (Salt lake) urban local body.
The
elections assume additional importance, as they constitute the biggest poll
exercise prior to the Bengal Assembly elections of 2006.
