Comrade S Sudevan

THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) Chattisgarh state secretariat deeply mourned the sad demise of its state secretariat member and veteran communist leader of Chattisgarh, Comrade S Sudevan. He passed away on  January 8 at Thiruvananthapuram.  He died of blood cancer.  He was 70 years old.

Comrade Sudevan was a very prominent and popular trade union leader of Chattisgarh. He was one of the main architects in organising coal workers of Chattisgarh in CITU. He was also the first president of Chattisgarh state committee of CITU.

He joined the Party in 1959.  Since the formation of Madhya Pradesh state committee of CPI(M) in 1978, he was being elected to the state committee of the Party.  After the formation of Chattisgarh, he became the state secretariat member of the Party in 2000.  As the state secretariat member of the Party, he played an important role in developing the Party in Chattisgarh.

He was born in Kerala but finally settled in Sarguja in Chattisgarh and worked to organise the local people in the mass organisations and the Party.  He was very strict on the question of Party discipline.

His death is an immense loss to the trade union and the Communist movement in Chattisgarh.  The Party dips its red flag in his memory and conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife Sarala Sudevan, his two sons and daughter and other family members, stated the state secretariat. (INN)
