CPI(M) Opposes Opening Up Of International
Routes To Private Operators
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its disapproval over the decision of the central government to allow private domestic airlines to operate on international routes.
The Polit Bureau is particularly unhappy since this decision comes despite the Left parties jointly requesting the government to refrain from making this decision. The indiscriminate opening up of the international sector to foreign airlines since 2000 together with the present decision will strike a major blow to the national carriers particularly Indian Airlines. The national carriers were hamstrung in the past by the NDA government's refusal to allow acquisition of new aircraft by them.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) urges upon the government to reconsider this decision
