Don’t
Help In Diverting The Case
CPI(M)
On Kanchi Shankaracharya Case
The
Tamil Nadu state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)
has issued the following statement on November 24:
DISCUSSION
is going on all over the country on the murder case of Kanchi Sankararaman. The
statement issued by the Tamil Nadu government asserted that the action taken by
it has established its commitment to the principle that all are equal before the
law.
As
far as the CPI(M) is concerned that it has faced several foisted cases against
it on several occasions. The party, on such occasions, had criticised the police
action. However, in Sankararaman’s murder case, taking into consideration the
statement given by the Tamil Nadu chief minister and the action taken by the
police shows that the case is moving in the right direction. The courts have
also opined that there was prima facie evidence
in the murder case after going through the first information report. The
approach of the BJP, VHP, Hindu Munnani and RSS in this case has shown that they
have least respect for the Constitution
and the law of the land. They are simply stoking the sentiments of the
people and whipping up communal hatred. They are also accusing the CPI(M) as
responsible for the arrest of Jayendra Saraswathi.
The
CPI(M) wishes to insist that this case is to be conducted in a just and fair
manner and as per law. It is also wishes to state that democratic organisations
like DMK should not indulge in statements on this case which would help to serve
the cause of those who wish to divert the case with ulterior motive. (INN)
