Reception Committee Formed For 18th Party Congress
A
hundred member reception committee for the 18th Party Congress of the CPI(M), to
be held for the first time in New Delhi from April 6 to 11, 2005, was
constituted at a meeting at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, on November 17.
The meeting was chaired by CPI(M) central committee member, Joginder Sharma.
The
chairman of the reception committee will be Joginder Sharma and secretary will
be Delhi CPI(M) state secretary, Pushpendra Grewal. Brinda Karat is the vice
chairperson and Mahinder Singh is the treasurer.
Apart
from Delhi state committee members and leaders of mass organisations, the
committee comprises a wide spectrum of personalities – artists, writers,
student leaders, doctors, media persons, teachers, lawyers and scientists.
Prominent among them are: veteran journalist Prabash Joshi, Geeta Hariharan,
Asghar Wajahat, Vivan Sundaram, Dr. M M A Faridi, Manmohan
Singh Baba, Ashok Chakradhar, Subha Mudgal, Zubair Razvi, Veena Majumdar
and Bawa Shiv Charan Singh to name
a few.
Gracing
the occasion were CPI(M) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet, Polit Bureau
members Prakash Karat and S Ramachandran Pillai. (INN)
