  2. Ensure jobs for all, Education for all

  3. Include right to work as a fundamental right in the Constitution

  4. Adopt a national youth and sports policy

A delegation of DYFI central leaders comprising of Tapas Singh, general secretary, K N Balagopal, president, Asitango Ganguly, joint secretary, Abdul Hai, Tikender Singh Panwar, vice president, and Pushpender Tyagi, treasurer met the prime minister Manmohan Singh and submitted a memorandum, which was signed by 2.5 crore youth.

The prime minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation for nearly half-an-hour and accepted most of the views presented by the delegation. Regarding the formation of National Youth and National Sports Policy, the PM assured that experts, youth organisations and respective ministers shall  sit together to prepare a draft in this regard.

The DYFI leaders told the PM that the youth played a pivotal role in the dislodging of the NDA government from office because of its lackluster performance. The prime minister assured that steps would be initiated to bring in the Employment Guarantee Act, which would provide employment for at least one able bodied individual in a family for 100 days.

The DYFI is holding a mass public meeting in Delhi on November 3, 2004 at Talkatora ground in which thousands of youth shall participate to press for these demands. (INN)
