Vol.
XXVIII
No. 43 October 24, 2004 |
The
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following
statement on October 16.
THE
people of Maharashtra have rejected the BJP-Shiv Sena combine and voted for a
Congress-NCP led government. This
victory for the secular forces is in line with the national verdict given in the
14th Lok Sabha elections. The
people of Maharashtra have refused to endorse the communal platform of the Shiv
Sena and the BJP despite the discontent against the Congress-NCP state
government.
These
results have ensured that there will be a secular government in the state. Based
on a honest appraisal of the record of the past five years, the new government
should adopt policies which can improve the living conditions of all sections of
the working people.
The
CPI(M) has won 3 seats compared to the 2 last time.
