Pak Foreign Minister Meets Left Leadership
LEADERS of the Left parties emphasised the need for increasing people-to-people contacts between India and Pakistan in order to create a favourable atmosphere for settlement of all disputes, including Kashmir.
On the first day of his arrival in India for the official visit, foreign minister of Pakistan, Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri, met the leaders of the Left parties leaders over dinner at the Pakistan High Commission on August 4 and held discussions on the Indo-Pak talks. CPI(M) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet, Polit Bureau member M K Pandhe, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan and RSP leader Abani Roy attended this dinner meeting.
Kasuri visited India from 4th to 7th September 2004 along with foreign secretary and senior officials of the Pakistan’s ministry of External Affairs.
During
the discussion Surjeet stressed the need for strengthening the dialogue on all
the outstanding issues including Kashmir.
The
Pakistan foreign minister invited the Left parties to visit Pakistan during the
year, which would contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship between the
two neighbouring countries. (INN)
