All-India
Youth Rally In Delhi On November 3
B
Prasant
A MASSIVE rally of the youth of the country shall be organised in Delhi on November 3 by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) based on the following demands:
Right
to work
Filling
up of all job vacancies
National
youth policy and
National
sports policy
This
was stated by the all-India general secretary of the DYFI, Tapas Sinha, and
all-India president K N Balagopal in Kolkata at the state office of the DYFI on
August 20. This was decided in the meeting of the central executive committee of
the DYFI held recently in Kolkata. The two youth leaders believed that the rally
would be a massive assemblage of the youth of the country.
Tapas
Sinha said that the policy of the union government over the past ten years had
given rise to a massive unemployment problem. More than three lakh posts have
been abolished. There has been no progress chalked up in the arena of sports.
The disastrous national scenario urged upon the people to remove the NDA régime.
The
UPA government, said the youth leaders, must fill up existing job vacancies by
keeping in mind the problem of the youth in the country. Railway is one sector
that can play a crucial part in reorienting the employment policy. The DYFI will
go in for mass collection of at least two crore of signatures across the country
on the issues of national youth and sports policies, and thoroughgoing land
reforms. With the signatures collected, the DYFI shall move in a deputation to
the prime minister.
The
youth leadership said that in view of the 25 years of the DYFI on November 3, a
one-year-long programme countrywide will be held to commemorate the occasion.
At the moment the membership of the DYFI stands at more than 1.35 crore.
The 25th year shall be commemorated as the year of struggle,
self-sacrifice, and progress. A
target has been set for the collection of five lakh units of blood. All-India
demands of the DYFI include also a demand not to privatise profit-bearing PSUs,
and the ensuring of the right to work and education for all.
The
media conference that the all-India leadership of the DYFI addressed also
included state leaders of the DYFI like Ashitanga Ganguly (secretary), and Abdul
Hai (president). (INN)
