        Beijing Hosts 3rd ICAPP From Sept 3-5

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury and Central Committee member Md Salim have left to China today to participate in the Third International Conference of Asian Political Parties (3rd ICAPP) being held in Beijing on September 3-5, 2004.

The Communist Party of China (CPC), with the endorsement of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), is hosting this conference in order to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between political parties in Asian countries and discuss ways to enhance political confidence and economic cooperation in Asia.

The theme of the 3rd ICAPP will be “Exchange, Cooperation, Development”. The main topics for discussion are ‘Regional Security and Multilateral Cooperation’, ‘Economic Growth and Social Progress’ and ‘Political Party Building and National Development’. The consensus reached at the conference will be released after the event in the form of “Beijing Declaration”.
