        Surjeet Thanked For Resolving Truckers Strike

THE All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) has expressed deep gratitude to CPI(M) general secretary, Harkishan Singh Surjeet, for his help in ending the truckers strike. J M Saksena, its secretary general, in a letter to Surjeet, acknowledged that it was only his intervention that led the union finance ministry to hold negotiations with them, which ultimately led to the signing of an agreement with the union government and the formation of a committee to sort out the tangle. He thanked Surjeet for this help and guidance.

Saksena while expressing hope that the committee will work with an open mind, demanded the government to make Surjeet the chairman of the committee. However, while appreciating the gesture, Surjeet has declined the offer to head the committee.
