Holds 2-Day Study Camp At Srinagar
Mohd Amin Dar
OVER 100 youth from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir attended a two day study camp organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Federation (JKDYF) in Srinagar on July 10-11. It was the first ever study camp to educate youth activists working at different levels under the banner of the JKDYF. The state executive committee of JKDYF in its recently held meeting at Srinagar had decided to organise such study classes. This study camp would be followed by holding classes at the district level.
Mohd Yaqoob Gania, president JKDYF, presided over the study camp while among the main speakers were Mohd Salim, CPI(M) deputy leader in Lok Sabha, Mohd Yusuf Tarigami, CPI(M) J&K state secretary and MLA, and Tapas Sinha DYFI general secretary. The camp was conducted in four sessions, each with a different topic. The sessions were devoted to 1) Ideology 2) National and International Situation 3) Kashmir problem and 4) Organisation.
Every
session witnessed lively participation of delegates who sought answers from the
speakers to their various doubts.
Mohd
Salim spoke on the two topics of Ideology and National and International
situation. He explained in detail the fundamental of Marxist ideology and its
relevance in the present international situation. He depicted how nakedly
imperialism led by the US was trying to enslave the world in the name of waging
a “war on terror” with a design to promote its economic and political
interests. Salim dwelt on the US illegal occupation of Iraq and the ongoing
brave resistance of the Iraqi
people. He said the illegal war and dislodging of a sovereign government and
installation of a puppet regime in its place was solely for the purpose of
gaining control on rich oil reserves. He praised the brave people of Iraq for
waging a heroic resistance war.
While
answering questions, Mohd Salim explained in detail the Left’s decision to
support the UPA government from outside. He said the Left had a record of
uncompromisingly fighting for the interests of the people even while extending
support to a government.
Tapas
Sinha, in his class on organisation explained the necessity of building the
organisation. He gave a brief account of the history of international and
national youth movement, how DYFI was formed and how it reached a membership
level of more than 1.3 crore. He also dwelt on the experience of building,
consolidating, strengthening and expanding the democratic and progressive youth
movement, particularly on how to build contacts and draw them into the
organisation. He stressed on the importance of building social relations keeping
in view the traditions and culture of the society. Another key aspect was the
taking up of local issues in a consistent manner and thus generating broader
support of the society for the movement. He said all these contacts must be
properly channelised into the organisation. Sinha said the progressive and
democratic youth of Jammu and Kashmir, under the banner of JKDYF, have a very
important role to play in achieving peace, employment, development and
strengthening of the process of dialogue.
Tarigami
spoke on the Kashmir problem and its impact on the sub-continent and explained
the importance of continuing the Indo-Pak dialogue for establishing a peaceful
environment in the region. He said that the recent thaw in Indo-Pak relations is
a welcome and encouraging step, especially for the people of J&K.
Mohd
Amin Dar, JKDYF general secretary, in his concluding speech dwelt on the future
tasks and explained how to carry on the activities in the present difficult
situation in the state.
