Contribute For Flood Relief: SFI

THE central executive committee of the Students Federation of India (SFI) called upon students to collect flood relief material and join the rescue efforts in the flood- affected regions of Assam, Bihar, Tripura and West Bengal. The CEC urged all the units of SFI to organise a one-day collection of relief material on July 29, 2004.

The floods witnessed in the recent past were unprecedented in the history and had wreaked havoc on the livelihood of the people. The news coming from the affected areas point out to the absence of proper relief facilities for the people in some areas. The outbreak of several water borne diseases is also reported along with the shortage of food, stated SFI.

The SFI called upon all students and people to contribute generously and help in providing relief to the affected people. Saying that the SFI activists in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura and Bihar are already involved in the relief activities, the CEC  urged the entire country to come together in the relief operation. (INN)
