On Rail Budget
The
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following
statement on July 6, 2004.
IN the railway budget for 2004-2005 presented by the railway minister, there has been no increase announced in passenger fares and freight charges. This is a welcome feature. The budget projects Rs 645 crore more freight earnings than what was estimated in the interim budget. Realising this target will increase the revenues of the railways.
The main focus in the railway system should be on ensuring safety and according priority to the development and expansion of the infrastructure. The measures proposed in the budget for improving safety must be seriously implemented.
