CPI(M) Greetings To CRPF Congress

On July 1, 2004, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) sent the following message of greetings to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russian Federation (CRPF) on the occasion of the latter’s 10 th national party congress.

Dear Comrades,

ON behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), we convey our warm fraternal greetings to all the delegates attending the 10th congress of the CPRF.

Your party congress is of special interest as you are meeting at a time when the Left and progressive forces in Russia and internationally are faced with many challenges. Since the dismantling of the Soviet Union, the United States of America has embarked on a quest of hegemony and total domination. The aggressive measures taken by the Bush administration after the September 11 attacks have resulted in blatant onslaughts on the sovereignty of independent countries. It has promoted authoritarian and rightwing attacks on progressive movements and the rights of citizens. Neither the United Nations charter nor international laws have any sanctity for it. The aggression and occupation of Iraq is the worst example of imperialist behaviour. Within a year, the people of Iraq have shown that such criminal acts cannot be countenanced and built up a heroic resistance. It confirms the historical truth that imperialism cannot suppress and subjugate a people forever.

Russia has an important role to play in the coming days in checking this rampaging power. Under the present dispensation of power, such a role is not forthcoming. The anti-imperialist and patriotic forces in Russia have to play this role. The CPRF has the major responsibility in strengthening these forces and we look forward to your congress mapping out a strategy to undertake this task.

The rightwing offensive under the auspices of an imperialist driven globalisation has adversely affected all countries and the working people. Russia has borne the brunt of a predatory capitalist restoration. All the hard-won gains of the working class have been snatched away. The world has witnessed the sufferings of the Russian people under an inhuman capitalist order and imperialist loot. It is the CPRF which has stood firmly against this vicious exploitation and in defence of the interests of working people.

Efforts are on to marginalise and isolate the communist and Left forces by powerful vested interests. We are confident that your congress will be able to work out the correct strategy and tactics to meet the situation and rally all the progressive and democratic forces to carry on the struggle for the establishment of just and renovated socialist society. Such a struggle will be long and arduous but in this endeavour you will have the solidarity and support of all the communist and Left forces in the world including the CPI(M). Our two parties have the common bonds of adherence to the outlook of scientific socialism.

We wish your important congress all success and once again convey our best wishes to you all.
