Extremists
Indulge In Killing And Kidnapping
LAYING bare again their deep dismay and demoralisation, extremists have recently been on the prowl in certain remote areas of the state to wreak their horrific violence on CPI(M) leaders and supporters. Since June 4, extremists have carried out a few dastardly killings and kidnappings with an eye to wreak vengeance on CPI(M).
At
about 5 p m on June 4, armed ATTF extremists accosted CPI(M) supporter Samir
Debbarma on his way back home at the outlying village Burakha under Jirania PS,
West Tripura. While the two youths who accompanied him, fled away, he was
kidnapped by the extremists and his dead body was discovered on the morning of
June 07 inside a jungle adjoining a neighbouring hamlet. Comrade Debbarma was
aged 22 years.
Again
at about 9.30 p m on June 6 a group of around 25 armed extremists raided the
house of CPI(M) leader and head of Kulai village panchayat under Kamalpur
sub-division, Dhalai district with a view to kidnapping this long time
democratic activist, who was high on their hit list. As he had just left home to
pay his last respects to the departed Comrade Hasmai Reang, the extremists
kidnapped his young daughter aged 15 years and studying in Class VIII. On their
way back, they came across DYFI local committee member and CPI(M) Ramratan Para
Branch member Bishu Rudrapaul and another youth activist Rakhal Adhikari. They
were returning from Kulai market. The extremists fired at them before fleeing
the scene. On hearing the gunshots and screams the local people arrived and
removed the wounded to the Kulai Hospital, but a short while into the treatment,
33 year old Comrade Bishu Rudrapaul expired. With bullet injury on the leg,
Rakhal Adhikari was removed to GB Hospital, Agartala, at night. Almost
immediately after the incident, security forces led by the SDPO, Ambassa rushed
to the spot and launched a combing operation to rescue the kidnapped girl.
