Spread Of Enteric Diseases

THE CPI(M) state committee has expressed grave concern over the incidents of deaths from enteric diseases at many places in remote tribal  belts of the Longthorai valley sub-division in Dhalai district. These were being caused due to the drying of the water sources under the ongoing heat wave forcing people to drink contaminated water. The Party has also noted with concern the sporadic spread of such diseases like gastroenteritis, malaria, measles etc at certain remote belts of Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura, Khowai of West Tripura and Amarpur, Subroom, and Udaipur of South Tripura. 

The Party urged the state government to send more number of medical teams and medicines to the affected spots as also to carry out round the clock monitoring of the situation and seek requisite central assistance, if necessary. It also called upon the state government to take necessary steps for drawing up a master-plan with expert opinion so as to facilitate uninterrupted supply of potable water in dry season. The Party gave a fervent call to all sections of its activists as well as doctors’ associations and voluntary organisations to swing into action on a war footing to assist the health department and administration in this regard.

As the elections to the 3-tier Panchayats in Tripura are round the corner, the Party called upon all its units to gear up the organisational preparations immediately to bring about a massive mandate for the Left Front with a view to keeping up the momentum of development in the state. An all out endeavour is to be made to involve all sections of development-minded people of Tripura in the Left Front’s Panchayat poll campaign so as to turn the rural Tripura into a fortress of peace and development by totally trouncing the vested interests from each and every Panchayat which they are holding at present, exhorted the CPI(M).
