Reflection Of People’s Anger
CPI(M)
Congratulates People of AP
The CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh state committee has congratulated the people of the state for decisively ending the anti-people rule of the Telugu Desam government. It opined the mandate was a reflection of the deep-seated anger and dissatisfaction among the people against the TDP government’s World Bank-dictated policies which were ruining their lives.
B V Raghavulu, CPI(M) state secretary issued a statement immediately after the results stating this. He said the the understanding reached by the opposition parties to prevent a split in the anti-TDP-BJP vote paid off handsomely as was seen by the fact that the TDP-BJP combine was decimated in all regions of the state. A desperate TDP tried to influence voters using money, liquor and all sorts of things but had been rebuffed by the people very convincingly, he said. The results have also proved many critics view that the TDP rule had been more of hype and propaganda than any real substance, he opined.
Raghavulu has thanked the people of the state who have voted for the CPI(M), other Left and secular parties in the elections and felt that the massive mandate casts greater responsibility on opposition parties. He expressed the hope that the Congress and other parties will act in a manner so as to meet the expectations of the people. On the occasion of this massive victory for the opposition, Raghavulu made it categorically clear that the CPI(M) will continue to defend the people’s interests.
