BJP Must Explain
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 12, 2004
THE
Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock at the death of 21 women in a
stampede in Lucknow. The ghastly incident took place when women collected in
large numbers where saris were being distributed free on the occasion of the
birthday of the BJP leader Lalji Tandon. It
is shameful that such inducements were being given in the Prime Minister's
constituency.
The
BJP leadership has to explain how such distribution could take place during the
period of elections. The Election Commission should take immediate action
against this blatant violation of the law.
