Left Parties Condemn Minority Bashing
THE
Left parties of Jharkhand have taken objection to the chief minister Arjun Munda
and his cabinet colleagues attending an RSS congregation at Morabadi ground, on
November 10, where RSS chief K S Sudarshan attacked the constitutional
foundation of the country and resorted to minority bashing. These parties said
the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues are bound by oath to uphold the
provisions of the constitution whose very foundation is secularism and
plurality. But this is precisely what Sudarshan attacked, asking the RSS cadres
to convert India into a unitary ‘Hindu Rashtra.’ The Left parties also
condemned Sudarshan for calling the Adivasis as Vanvasis and for denigrating
Mahatma Gandhi whose killers were motivated by the same fascist communal
ideology. It is unfortunate that the vice chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University
presided over the meeting.
The
BJP has a high stake in Jharkhand as it has 10 sitting MPs from this state.
Before the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and the Sangh Parivar are deliberately
trying to whip up anti-minority feelings and to create a communal flare-up. The
repeated visits of Togadia, followed by that of Sudarshan, who spewed venom
against the minorities, are parts of a deliberate electoral agenda as both the
central and state governments have failed on all fronts and as the people’s
anger against these BJP-led governments is increasing.
The
Left parties urged upon all the democratic, secular and peace loving people of
Jharkhand to remain vigilant against the communal conspiracy of the BJP and
Sangh Parivar. These parties also asked all Left and democratic forces to
preserve the unity of people in Jharkhand and foil the BJP-Sangh Parivar’s
attempts to divide the tribals on religious lines. (INN)
