Comrades Ananta Kar And Laxman Patnaik
COMRADE
Ananta Kar, member of the CPI(M) Orissa state committee and secretary of CPI(M)
Mayurbhanj district committee died on October 18. He was a member of undivided
Communist Party since 1960 and joined the CPI(M) in 1994. He was a reputed
leader of the teachers movement in the state and was also the chairman of the
Orissa Secondary Teachers Association for two years till he retired as a
secondary school headmaster. He died at the age of 64 after being affected of
blood cancer for which he was being treated at Kalinga Hospital, Bhubaneswar for
the past one month. He has left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
COMRADE Laxman Patnaik, freedom fighter and former member of the CPI(M) Orissa state committee died at the age of 91. He had participated in the freedom struggle since 1930 and joined the Communist Party in 1940. Comrade Laxman Patnaik joined the CPI(M) in 1964 and attended the Foundation Convention at Tenali as well as the 7th Party Congress. He was a member of the CPI(M) Orissa state committee from 1964 to 1975. He leaves behind his wife, three daughters and one son.
