CITU
Denounces Kolkata High Court Order
THROUGH
a statement issued from New Delhi on September 29, the secretariat of the Centre
of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) expressed shock and concern over the judgement of
the Kolkata High Court prohibiting rallies and processions in the city between 8
a m to 8 p m on weekdays.
To
the CITU, this order is an infringement on the basic democratic right of the
people to express themselves in a collective and organised manner. It is also
surprising that while more serious issues pertaining to life and livelihood of
the toiling people are being subjected to wait for attention and justice for
long years, the rights of the commoners to highlight their grievances and
demands in a collective manner are being axed one after another.
