Prajasakti Adds Fifth Edition At Khammam

M Venugopala Rao

PRAJASAKTI Telugu daily added one more edition at Khammam to its existing four editions at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.  Koratala Satyanarayana, chairman of Prajasakti Sahiti Samstha, formally inaugurated the new edition at Nallapuneni Kasayyanagar in the district headquarters on July 27. Leaders of various political parties, people’s representatives, academics, those who contributed in cash, kind and labour for the construction of the new building, and other well-wishers attended to the inaugural function in a big way.

Renuka Choudary, Congress  member of parliament from Khammam Lok Sabha constituency, switched on  the machine, while Thammineni Veerabhadram, secretary of Khammam district committee of the CPI(M), inaugurated the exposing machine.  The chief guest of the function and chairman of Andhra Pradesh Press Academy, I Venkat Rao, inaugurated the computer section.

Addressing the meeting organised in this connection, Koratala Satyanarayana said Prajasakti was a newspaper of the toiling people covering the views and news of various sections of the people and conveying  facts objectively and without fear.   Appealing to the people to patronise Prajasakti, he said it was committed to certain values and was working in a big way for safeguarding secularism at a time when it was being increasingly threatened by communalism.  Religion was being misued for the sake of power, Koratala said and underlined that it was the responsibility of one and all to resist the misuse of religion.  He explained the key role played by Prajasakti over the years in the development of the state and reiterated that with the support and affection of the people, it would continue to do so along with standing firmly for the unity and integrity of the country.  Addressing the gathering, Renuka Chowdary wished Prajasakti  more successes in future.

V Srinivasa Rao, editor of Prajasakti, who presided over the meeting, said Prajasakti was forging ahead covering issues with soundness of analysis and in tune with the aspirations of the people.  He announced that it was decided to start publication of tabloid supplements of the daily in some of the districts, including Khammam, shortly.  Work for starting the sixth edition of Prajasakti at Kurnool is also going on briskly.  Unlike other newspapers, starting a new edition was not an easy task  for Prajasakti, he said and made it clear that the daily was going ahead with the encouragement and support extended by the well-wishers and sympathisers.  Srinivasa Rao complimented all those people who extended their support liberally for the new edition, particularly even in a situation of severe drought prevailing in the state and those workers who contributed their labour without seeking any remuneration and bringing their own food during the days of construction of the new building. I Venkat Rao said it was courageous on the part of Prajasakti  to stand to compete, without profit motive, in a atmosphere of competition and asked it to continue its march with the same initiative and courage.  T Veerabhadram wished Prajasakti to achieve more victories in its successful journey facing trials and tribulations.

Apart from the general manager of Prajasakti, V Krishnaiah, chairman of Khammam zilla parishad, Chanda Lingaiah, chairperson of Khammam municipality, Dr A Nagamallika, MLAs Vanama Venkateswara Rao (Congress), Gummadi Narsayya (CPI-ML New Democracy) and S Rajayya (CPI-M),  district secretaries of the CPI and CPI-ML New Democracy,  S Venkateswarlu and K Rangayya, respectively, one of the donors of the land for the new building, Nallapaneni Appa Rao  and others addressed the meeting extending their support to Prajasakti.
