China for Stronger Sino-Indian Relations
Following is the news report released by the Chinese official news agency Xinhua on the visit of the CPI(M) delegation to China. The delegation, led by Sitaram Yechury, has since returned to India. We will be carrying a detailed report on the visit in our next issue.
CHINA
will work with India to build a long-standing, stable and healthy relationship
between the two countries, said Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee
of the Political Bureau of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Wu
spoke so on Thursday, July 24, at a meeting with Sitaram Yechury, member of the
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Wu
said the CPC values its friendship with the Indian party, and will make positive
efforts to advance friendship and cooperation between the two parties.
He
said China and India are big developing countries and the Five Principles of
Peaceful Coexistence, sponsored by the two nations, have laid a solid foundation
for the sound development of Sino-Indian relations.
The
declaration on principles for relations and comprehensive cooperation between
China and India, signed during Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s
China visit in June this year, marked a new phase of overall development in
bilateral relations, noted Wu.
Yechury
said the two peoples boast a deep-rooted traditional friendship, and that a
further strengthening of the bilateral friendship and cooperation is conducive
to their economic and social development, peace and stability in Asia, and to
the creation of multipolarity in the world.
The
Communist Party of India (Marxist) attaches great importance to its friendly
contacts with the CPC, and will make joint efforts with all Indian communists to
promote bilateral friendship, said Yechury.
He
looked forward to greater achievements for China in building socialism with
Chinese characteristics. (INN)
