Upholding
the glorious legacy of anti-imperialist struggle and to give further impetus to
its ongoing campaign against the onslaughts of Anglo-American imperialism, the
Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the biggest youth organisation in
the country having a membership of 12.5 million youth, has given a call to its
members to boycott Pepsi Cola, Coca-Cola. and other items of MNC’s belonging
to the US and UK.
The
DYFI central secretariat in a statement issued on May 28 appealed to its members
to implement the boycott call and has asked them to campaign for the boycott
call amongst the entire youth community of the country. It stated that American
imperialism is luring the youth to consume Pepsi and Coke by huge ad spending.
“Such imperialist multinational companies are not only eroding our economic
sovereignty they are also attempting to erode the culture and patriotism of our
youth by flooding the markets and pavement shops with the T-shirts, caps, handkerchief
etc. having American and British flags as symbols of imperialist
hegemony printed on them. The DYFI calls upon the youth community to boycott all
these item.”
