Greetings To 32nd Congress, CP France

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) sent the following message of greetings to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of France on March 31, on the occasion of its 32rd national congress. On behalf of the CPI(M), its Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury attended the national congress.

THE Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) extends its warm fraternal communist greetings to the 32nd congress of the Communist Party of France.

The 32nd congress of the Communist Party of France is meeting in the background of the renewed imperialist offensive to establish its  hegemony --- economic, political and military --- worldwide.  Simultaneously, we are also witnessing imperialism’s attempt to transfer the burdens of the deepening world capitalist crisis on to the developing countries.

In flagrant disregard of international public opinion expressed through unprecedented anti-war mobilisations throughout the world, bypassing the United Nations and rebuffing its own NATO and EU allies, the US and UK have launched its war of aggression against Iraq. There can be no justification whatsoever for this criminal and unjust war.

In the post-war period, the natural tendency in the international situation was the movement from bi-polarity towards a multipolar world.  US imperialism in  its effort to impose its hegemony is seeking to create unipolarity.

This war on Iraq is yet another instance where US imperialism wishes to impose unipolarity under its hegemony. This cannot be allowed by anybody who cherishes the spirit of freedom, liberty and human dignity.

These developments once again validate our understanding that capitalism is not only incapable of solving the basic problems facing humanity but, on the contrary, mercilessly dehumanises civilisation through its predatory search for profits.   The enormous potential for raising the living standards of the vast mass of the  world’s populace on account of the scientific and technological advances is being hampered by the  predatory role of international finance capital.  The vast opportunities that such breakthrough in science and technology offers is being utilised for amassing super profits and developing newer weapons in their arsenal.

The Left, progressive, democratic and peace-loving forces around the world are on the move calling for a halt to these imperialist manoeuvres. The world is witnessing a reassertion by those who desire peace against those who champion war and destruction. People in France and India are also coming out and rallying together to counter the fresh wave of imperialist assaults.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has been keenly following the developments in your country and the role played by the  Communist Party of  France.  The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has close fraternal relations with the Communist Party of France. We are sure that in the days ahead, these fraternal bonds will expand and strengthen further.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is confident that the deliberations of the 32nd congress of the Communist Party of France will facilitate further growth and expansion of the Communist Party of France. We once again wish your congress all success.
