Terrorist
Depredations:
A
Glimpse
THE
outlawed
NLFT
has
sharply
escalated
its
violent
murderous
attacks
against
CPI(M)
cadres,
supporters
and
sympathisers
in
the
run-up
to
the
assembly
elections
in
Tripura.
Since
the
declaration
of
elections
on
January
11,
many
such
attacks
have
taken
place
in
Tripura.
Enjoying
the
patronage
of
the
Congress-INPT
alliance,
the
NLFT
has
clearly
embarked
on
the
course
of
terrorising
the
people
and
forcing
them
to
vote
for
the
Congress-led
alliance.
As
the
INPT
is
the
NLFT’s
political
wing,
any
alliance
with
the
INPT
constitutes
a
direct
collaboration
with
the
outlawed
and
banned
NLFT
extremists.
The
Congress
is
guilty
of
precisely
such
direct
collusion
with
an
extremist
outfit
that
seeks
to
dismember
our
country.
The
Congress
has
once
again
shown
that
it
places
its
narrow
electoral
interests
above
the
interests
of
India’s
unity
and
integrity.
This
dangerous
game
further
entrenches
the
anti-national
forces
in
the
north
east.
The
Congress
claim
that
it
has
forged
an
alliance
with
the
INPT
and
not
with
the
NLFT
is
specious,
to
say
the
least.
Making
a
mockery
of
this
claim,
the
NLFT
is
campaigning
in
favour
of
the
Congress-INPT
alliance,
particularly
in
tribal
belt,
and
“ordering”
people
to
vote
for
this
combine.
Such
“orders”
are
accompanied
by
blatant
threats
to
the
people’s
lives.
Yet
the
campaign
launched
by
the
CPI(M)-led
Left
Front
is
evoking
tremendous
response
from
the
people,
as
is
evident
from
the
massive
rallies
held
all
over
Tripura
after
the
declaration
of
elections.
While
reiterating
the
need
to
further
strengthen
harmony
and
unity
between
the
tribals
and
non-tribals,
a
unity
which
was
assiduously
built
by
the
CPI(M)
over
the
years,
the
people
are
seeking
normalcy
and
respite
from
terrorist
attacks
in
order
to
advance
the
tasks
of
economic
development
and
better
their
lives.
The
people
of
Tripura
are,
therefore,
bent
on
giving
a
befitting
reply
to
the
NLFT-backed
Congress-INPT
combine
in
the
forthcoming
polls.
The
details
of
14
terrorist
acts
since
January
11
till
January
21
are
given
below.
