sixth
Maharashtra
state
DYFI
conference
chalked
out
an
agitational
programme
to
strengthen
the
fight
against
the
twin
evils
of
communalism
and
globalisation.
One
of
the
main
programmes
would
be
the
observance
of
a
fortnight
long
protest
against
unemployment
from
March
23,
Shaheed
Bhagat
Singh
Day.
It
was
also
decided
that
DYFI
would
stage
demonstrations
in
the
state
against
the
central
government’s
ordinance
asking
adivasis
to
evacuate
forestlands.
It
would
support
the
workers
march
to
parliament
scheduled
for
February
26.
Mohammed
Salim,
West
Bengal
minister
and
ex-DYFI
general
secretary,
inaugurated
the
state
conference,
held
from
December
28-30
at
Nashik.
A
huge
rally
was
held
on
this
occasion,
which
was
attended
by
around
eight
thousand
youth
who
marched
with
flags,
placards.
The
staging
of
their
traditional
dance
and
pyramid
by
the
adivasi
youth,
was
a
highlight
of
this
procession,
which
attracted
everyone’s
attention
while
winding
its
way
through
the
main
streets
of
the
city.
In
his
scintillating
speech,
Mohammed
Salim,
the
main
speaker
of
the
rally
launched
a
scathing
attack
on
the
BJP
and
sangh
parivar
for
their
heinous
act
of
bringing
national
unity
in
greatest
ever
danger
by
resorting
to
communal
riots.
He
warned
people
to
be
aware
of
their
hidden
agenda
and
not
go
by
their
changing
facades.
The
public
meeting
was
addressed
by
state
secretary
of

Tapas
Sinha,
DYFI

secretary,

secretary

The
state
conference
elected
a
31
member
new
state
committee
with
Vijay
Patil
(Raigad)
as
president
and
Shailendra
Kamble
(Mumbai)
as
general
secretary.
It
also
adopted
two
resolutions
-
one
on
fighting
the
globalisation
and
another
on
fighting
for
social
justice
and
against
cultural
degeneration.
The
conference
also
decided
to
send
a
representative
from
each
district
to
the
all
India
young
women’s
convention
being
held
at
Kolkata
in
February.
JAMMU REGIONAL CONFERENCE
THE
fifth
regional
conference
of
Democratic
Youth
Federation
of
India
(DYFI)
Jammu
region
was
held
on
December
22-23
at
Government
Middle
School,
Chohaha,
in
R
S
Pura
Tehsil.
The
conference
concluded
with
mass
rally
at
the
same
place.
Speaking
at
the
rally
DYFI
general
secretary
Tapas
Sinha
exposed
the
BJP
government’s
hollow
promises
of
providing
employment
to
one
crore
people
after
coming
to
power.
“Leave
alone
new
jobs,
this
government
is
today
removing
people
from
their
jobs
in
all
sectors.
Large
number
of
youth
are
becoming
anti-social
elements
become
of
the
crisis
in
the
employment
sector.”
He
traced
the
growth
of
various
kinds
of
terrorism
to
the
forceful
implementation
of
the
unjust
policies
of
liberalisation
and
globalisation,
which
are
breeding
unemployment.
The
CPI(M)
MLA,
Khaliq
Naik,
addressing
the
gathering
said
that
pluralistic
tradition
is
the
basis
of
unity
of
the
country,
and
this
has
to
be
maintained
at
any
cost.
He
appealed
to
the
people
to
maintain
communal
harmony
in
the
wake
of
provocation
from
fundamentalist

spoke
on
the
occasion,
were

The
discussions
on
the
secretary’s
report,
placed
by
Mander
Singh,
were
lively
with
a
total
of
17
delegates
participating.
The
conference
elected
a
new
15
member
regional
committee
with
Kishore
Kumar
as
president,
Raju
Satia,
Sushma
Samu
as
vice-presidents,
Mahadev
Singh
as
secretary
and
Ravi
Mehra
as
joint
secretary.

Bhagat
was
elected
as
treasurer.
The
seventh
Karnataka
state
conference
of
DYFI
resolved
to
strengthen
its
struggles
and
multifarious
activities
to
counter
the
offensive
of
communal
forces
and
forces
unleashing
neo-liberal
economic
policies
detrimental
to
the
interests
of
youth
in
the
state.

delegates,
including
21
young
women,
from
22
districts
out
of
27
districts
of
the
state
participated
in
the
conference
held
at
Raichur
on
November
25-27.
They
were
representing
the
membership
of
around
50,000
in
the
state.

delegates
participated
in
the
discussion
on
the
draff
report
placed
by
DYFI
state
secretary

Karnataka
High
Court
inaugurating
the
delegates
session
of
the
conference
said
that
the
youth
should
recognise
the
danger
of
fascistic
communalism,
which
after
enacting
the
Gujarat
Genocide
is
now
attempting
to
convert
India
into
a
rabid
Hindu
Rashtra.

massive
rally
of
youth
to
mark

conference
said
that
the
BJP-
led
NDA
government
was
surrendering
the
interests
of
the
nation
by
bowing
before
US
imperialism,
to
be
a
junior
partner
of
it
in
the
sub
continent.
He
called
for
a
vigorous
fight
against
the
twin
dangers
of
neo-liberalisation
led
policies
and
fascistic
communalism.

and
the
other
named
“Youth
March
for
Communal
Harmony
&
Against
Communalism”
held
from
Bajal
at
Mangalore,
where
DYFI
leader
Srinivas
Bajal
was
brutally
murdered
by
the
Hindu
Yuva
Sena
goons,
culminated
at
the
venue
of
rally.
