Manipur Delegation Meets CPI(M) Leaders

A LARGE all-party delegation from Manipur met with CPI(M) Polit Bureau members Sitaram Yechury and S Ramachandran Pillai at CPI(M) headquarters in New Delhi on January 20.

While informing the delegation that the CPI(M) welcomes talks with the NSCN(IM) to resolve the decades-old problem of Naga militancy, it reiterated the earlier position that in arriving at any agreement with the NSCN(IM), the government of India should not disturb the existing territorial integrity of the north-eastern states. Any attempt to do this will have serious consequences for peace and stability in the entire north-eastern region.

The CPI(M) informed the delegation that it had sought an all-party meeting, with the presence of all the parties in the north-east, to build consensus before any final agreement with the NSCN(IM) is arrived at.
