CPI(M) Activists Stage Dharna

At Haryana Bhawan

HUNDREDS of CPI(M) activists demonstrated before Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi on October 22 to lodge their protest against the brutal murder of 5 dalits by VHP activists at village Duliana, near Jhajjar, Haryana. They raised slogans demanding immediate arrest of the killers, institution of a CBI inquiry into the killings and awarding of adequate compensation to the bereaved families. They also demanded banning of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

The demonstration was organised by the CPI(M) Delhi state committee. All the activists assembled at Mandi House in the afternoon and marched in a procession towards the Haryana Bhavan. The police stopped the demonstrators just outside the Haryana Bhawan.

The protest demonstration, turned into a meeting, was addressed by Brinda Karat, general secretary of AIDWA and member of the central committee of CPI(M), who had recently gone to Duliana village and met the family members of the murdered dalits.

The meeting was also addressed by Inderjeet, secretary of CPI(M) Haryana state secretary.  He demanded action against the senior civil and police officials in whose presence the killings took place.  He also exposed the nefarious activities of the VHP, who in the name of “protecting the cow” were spreading communal venom in Haryana.

He told the gathering that Haryana state committee of the Party has given a call to observe October 25 as “the Day of Anguish” all over Haryana. The meeting was also addressed by Mohan Lal, secretariat member, Delhi state committee of CPI(M).
