FOUR
meetings were held in different parts of United Kingdom to mark the completion
of 25 years of Left Front government in West Bengal. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member
and chairman of the Left Front, Biman Basu, spoke in these meetings which were
held in London, Leicester, Southall and Glasgow during the last week of July
this year. These meetings witnessed impressive gatherings of Indians living in
these places.
In
these meetings, Biman Basu spoke about the achievements of the Left Front
government in the last 25 years and answered questions from the public on
various issues. The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain), London branch,
organised a public meeting on July 27 in which Biman Basu was the main speaker.
Biman
Basu also visited Canada. Though there were no formal meetings here, Basu had
interactions with the Indian diaspora. He also met certain groups and
institutions regarding getting investments into West Bengal.
